I just finished reading Kim Harrison's The Outlaw Demon Wails. It was fabulous. She is by far my favorite urban fantasy/paranormal fiction writer. As much as I love Stephenie Meyer, she can't compete with Harrison. The characters in the Rachel Morgan series are so damn complicated, layered with subtlety, richness and vexing real-ness. Plus, the previous book just about crushed my heart. (And the new book comes out Feb. 24th.)
There's a reader's choice awards poll going on at Urban Fantasy right now through January 30th. Vote for your favorite author. http://urbanfantasyland.wordpress.com/2009/01/12/urban-fantasy-land-readers-choice-awards/

We went home last weekend for my grandmother's 80th birthday party. Part of the afternoon was a photo shoot of all of the relatives. Here's all of the grandkids with spouses:
Then the grandkids were supposed to take a "fun" shot, but I'm the only one making a face here. (Big surprise, I know.)
The great-grandkids:
Grandma with her children and their spouses:
This one of my sister's family makes me smile, especially Jamie's face.

While we were home in Wisconsin, this was a common sight:
My niece couldn't get enough of Uncle Jeremy. Here's one of mom and me (with a real smile from mom!)
Me and Jamie
We went to Bay Beach Amusement park on Sunday after Grandma's birthday party. It rained for most of the day, but we still had fun. Here's Mom and Stacy on the Scrambler, with a wet Chris, Dad and Jamie in the background. Mom, Chris and Jeremy on the Tilt-A-Whirl. Nicky and me on the Scrambler.

Im nearing the end of my printmaking class. We just started screen printing, but I like woodcuts better. One of my prints is in a show. (The green version.) I printed probably 20 of this image, all in different colors and using different papers. If only I could keep the eyeballs lined up....it looks even freakier when her eyes are off-kilter.
