Im a bit crabby today. We went to eat at Maxmart before grocery shopping and they screwed up our sandwich orders. Turns out Jeremy ate mine, and they messed up on "mine" and Erin's, so I had to wait 15 more minutes while I was starving, only to find out that I really had Jeremy's and could have eaten already. Grrrrrrr...............
Otherwise, nothing new.

Yesterday was Republic Day here in Ghana (thus, the internet cafe was closed and the only one open was the slow, crappy one.) We had heard of an AIDS walk, so Erin, Terry, Lothar and I drove to Circle to find it. It turns out that the walk was held in conjunction with a weeklong international conference with the Sister Cities Organization and over 14 states were represented. It was both interesting and weird to see such a big constituency of Americans and their reactions to the stuff going on around them. We all got free t-shirts and away we walked. The route followed the same path as the anti-war demo we participated in back in March, and took us through the main market area. I took some photos, watched the orderly procession (all except a group of energetic young Ghanaian men who broke into songs, chanting and dancing. The walk ended at Independence Square, where a Christian Youth rally was all taking place. We drank free water and pop, listened to some short speaches and then returned home. Jeremy still felt sick, so he stayed home to sleep. When I arrived, the workman was already there fixing our broken ceiling fan. That was nice.
We didnt do much except run errands and cook. The three folks from earlier in the day were due back at 6:30 for dinner at our place. Gosh, we ate soooo much food----spring rolls with basil and tofu with a spicy peanut sauce, coconut curry with veggies and tofu, fresh key lime pie, drinks and peanut m&ms. Then we played Go! and I retained my place at the bottom with a score of 650. (playing with 5 people is hard---people go out before you even get a chance to meld.)
Today I washed the sheets in the 2nd bedroom (now the bedbugs have gone there) and sprayed the whole mattress with Raid. The pillows earned a wash of bleach before sitting out in the sun all day. The last frontier is the sofa, which also got doused with Raid before we left the house. I meant to hit the post office today, but it will have to wait until tomorrow. Exercise took precidence and thats life. Tonight we are meeting a friend for Ethiopian, tomorrow is a welcome back party for our friend Mark, Friday is a rooftop BBQ for the 4th of July. Then we will probably go to the beach for the weekend to tan and relax and get out of Accra before Jeremy puts his soon-to-be-healthy nose against the grindstone. Busy busy busy.

So tired today. Our mattress is being treated today for bedbugs, so we're in the spare bedroom. Must be mucking with my sense of awakeness. Jeremy's feeling sick today (sounds like a cold) and Im running errands. Exciting, eh??
