That. Totally. Sucked. At the interview, I sounded like a complete dumbass. My time had been changed to 11 am, so I showed up looking as professional as I could given my current wardrobe. After much rigamarole finding where exactly I should go, I found the Consulate section and two other ladies also waiting for an 11 o'clock interview. I was called first, and followed a very short lady to a room in the back. It felt like Flashdance, at the end, where she has to dance in front of this row of judges. One lonely chair sat in front of a long table with three very serious Brits staring at me. I shook hands (my palms were dripping sweat, very nice, very nice) and sat down. THey proceeded to ask me questions I had not prepared for. What do I think my responsiblities will entail? What qualifications do I think someone needs in order to be a team player? Why did I apply for the job and why am I a good fit? Do I agree with countries limiting the number of VISAs given to foreigners? What would I do if someone asked for my help in getting a British VISA? And my favorite, who is the most important person within the VISA regime and why? What the hell? I tried to answer them as best I could, given my cluelessness with Embassy or VISA jobs, and asked a few of my own questions. Of course I thought of a million other things to say and ask as soon as I left, and when I got home to Jeremy I just felt defeated. I totally bombed it and have no hopes of actually getting hired there. That sucks. I really wanted that job. ARGH.
I wish I could cry, and have been moping since I got home at noon. Jeremy took me to the bank for a deposit, and then attempted some therapeutic shopping (a scale and a red Mali necklace as late bday gifts.) We're having dinner tonight with some friends to celebrate my bday as well, but I still feel a bit like a loser. Its been too long since I had a job interview, and hte one at the temp agency was way too easy. Plus, British job interviews are different than typical American one. Blech.
Anyway, its back on the job hunt. Ross gave me a business CD and I'll be cold calling starting tomorrow. Next week I'll be visiting OPE should nothing else pop up first. I'll keep you posted....

I tried to call folks all weekend but either they were on the phone a lot or the phone on the corner didnt want to work. Grrrrrrr.
Im very excited for my interview on Wednesday and really really hope I get the job. The timing and money would be perfect, so my fingers and toes are crossed.
Otherwise, had a fine weekend and I am enjoying the holiday Monday (Saturday was Independence Day.)
