Finally!!!! This is the first time I've been able to check my email since we left MN over a week ago. The phone jack section of Jeremy's laptop is broken, so we can't dial up at home. Until we buy a new computer, we're stuck using friends computers or the ones at Emory (where we are now.)
Its taken us over a week to clear out the downstairs. The upstairs is still a total disaster. We have so much stuff! It is truly unbelievable how much stuff we kept in storage all these years...we've already given away more clothes to Goodwill than Jeremy's dad owned in total. And we still have double that in our closet and dresser. Knickknacks, office stuff, books, crap...its really overwhelming. But the downstairs is pretty liveable at the moment. We just need to replace the furniture that we gave away when we left 1 1/2 years ago.
Squeak is also adjusting pretty well. Those first three days he was miserable--missing Trish and her house, hating the smell of the new place. But now he's more relaxed and doenst keep waking us up at 3 am crying non-stop like a newborn.
I picked up a shift at Noodle last night. It was SO WEIRD! I was nervous before I went in, thinking I had forgotten how to wait tables. But I've been doing it so long, it went okay. In the beginning, I felt spastic and nervous and lame. But by the end, after a bit of a rush, I finally found some flow. Walking out with $89 was like heaven. Im a valuable, productive member of society again! I work three times next week, and have an interview for a part time library job on the 30th. Plus Leah has a tip on a Saturday only job at the shoe store where she works. I think between the three of them, I could make ends meet.
All in all, its okay to be here. Some things just take time to get used to, and until we have a routine, it will feel all loose and dream-like. But I'll be emailing you all with our info so we can be back in the land of mail, phone calls and emails.
