Guess who's finally connected??? ME!
I woke up early this morning to futz with the bellsouth modem that I got last night. For over an hour, I plugged and unplugged, switched from ethernet to USB, cursed and prayed, and nothing worked. Finally I broke down and called the helpdesk. Would you like to know the reason why it wouldnt work and I couldnt get a connection? The woman who assigned me my email address spelled my name wrong. Now Im Julie Dorm. I asked if I could change it, because its really annoying. But he was like, if you can live with it, I highly suggest it. For them to fix the email address, they would have to disconnect my service for a few days and rearrange all this stuff. I just got connected...I dont want to immediately lose it. So from now on, in the land of bellsouth.net, I have a new last name.

Guess who bought a new computer? ME! Its all hooked up and ready to go...I just have to wait to get the DSL modem from Bellsouth. It's supposed to come tomorrow. After that, I'll be hooked up again. I can check email from home! OH, TECHNOLOGY!!!!

I miss Jeremy. He's been gone two weeks now, but it feels like forever. He's still got four more to go, and that sucks. But he found a research assistant in Secondi/Takoradi (the cities he's in right now) who knows the area really well. He's been introduced to a bunch of people, so hopefully it will snowball and he'll get plentiful and productive interviews before he comes home.

Tomorrow is the one year anniversary of Chris' death. I wish I could be with Jeremy, or at least home with my Minnesota family. Know that Im thinking of you, and of Chris.

The library is going fabulously. I love it. I really love it. Everything is exciting and new. Its so relaxed and fun. Even when it's busy, its nothing like the countless crappy jobs I've had in my life. Its one of the best jobs I've ever had the fortune to have, and Im so thankful I work there.

Congrats to Stacy and Chris on their little girl (over twenty two weeks!) and to Nancy and Josh for meeting their little girl, Riley, halfway across the globe.

More soon...when Im hooked up at home.
