Friday was my day off and I was sooooo productive. I dropped off Jeremy at school so he could work. I went to the doctor for a re-blood test. (My platelets were way too low, but I didnt have any of the other symptoms that go along with low platelets. I neither bruised or bleed spontaneously, and so the doctor thought it was a fluke. My cholesterol is still high--245, but for once my HDLs were really good. LDLs and triglycerides were too high, but not alarmingly so.)
I did four loads of laundry, did dishes, washed the kitchen floor, hung a thermometer, wrote four letters, cleaned the downstairs, sorted a pile of unwanted cookbooks, and took out the trash. Whoo hooo!
Today Im supposed to be at work, but we have a snow day. Since its been sleeting and freezing since last night, the major highways started closing about 11 pm last night. My manager called at 4:45 this morning to tell me not to come in. I couldnt get back to sleep, so I walked downstairs to watch the weather. I tell you, they just dont get cold down here. Its so pathetic. There were reporters scattered around the city, saying such things as, "Look at this straw I found on the ground. Look how much ice is on it." Or "Im at Caribou in Midtown and look at these icicles. There is ice on this road sign." That's news. But we've had 12 hours of freezing rain with a temp below 32 (windchill is about 20 degrees), so it is quite dangerous. Im just happy to get another day off.
