Today we decided to go blueberry picking. In our quest to try somewhere new, we decided to try a place way up in the northern suburbs past Alpharetta. After getting mixed up due to a detour, discovering a bakery that sold eight-inch tall pieces of cake, driving past a house that looked like an enormous castle (complete with four gnomes guarding the stone entrance gates and a mini castle in the back), and getting lost for over an hour, we found Berry Patch Farms. The place is more spaced out than our usual bluberry place, and there were much fewer black raspberry bushes to claw us up. So we picked about 6 1/2 pounds of berries in the hot, hot sun, paid $10.50, forgot the folding chair and left. Then, because we are gluttons for punishment, we drove to the new IKEA store off 14th Street. We sat in traffic for over an hour, on the same two-mile stretch of streets, with the hundreds and hundreds of other cars going there too. Once there, we became quickly overwhelmed. I've never been in a place so big and so filled with people. Honestly, there must have been between 3-5000 people in the store, with lines more coming in the parking lot and around the street. We didnt buy anything from the store (mostly because we couldnt stand the lines anymore), but when we move to MN, we'll buy the bed frame and some other stuff from there. We did try a cinnamon roll and bought some jam and cookies from the market near the exit. Then we got the hell out of there.Im feeling totally frazzled, and Squeak's tweaking out...must be a storm brewing. We really need to go grocery shopping because we've just used up the last of our vegetables. I can't handle the crowds right now....gotta chill before dealing with people. Tomorrow I want to work out (and work off the pastries we devoured today), and start to organize/pack the upstairs office. It's my last day off for about two weeks, so I better make it count.

On Friday we went blueberry picking for the first time this year and Jeremy made jam yesterday. (Thanks honey!) He also made this really complicated vegan meal for me. (Rice, corn and millet croquettes with chickpea, sundried tomato and artichoke heart salad with tofu jalapeno sauce and olive tapenade. Wow!! ) I wore a bikini outside for the first time in my life when we swimming at the apartment pool. Baby steps, baby steps. I had to work this weekend, but Im off tomorrow. Dont know if we'll see the parade or what. Have a great 4th of July everyone!!!!!
